A cultural, pleasant stroll that truly captures the spirit of the city perfect if you’re here for a few days and want to discover spots that are simply a must.

Just minutes from Hotel Regina, we suggest a route through five of Barcelona’s most beautiful (and most historic) bookshops. A cultural, pleasant stroll that truly captures the spirit of the city—perfect if you’re here for a few days and want to discover spots that are simply a must.

1) Llibreria Fabre: a classic that’s still going strong

Founded in 1860, Llibreria Fabre is one of those places that belongs to the city’s collective memory. With its carefully curated selection and the charm of a true traditional bookshop, it has that special quality of places that don’t need to reinvent themselves to stay relevant. Even better: it’s just a 10–15 minute walk from Hotel Regina, making it the perfect first stop to start the route at a relaxed pace.

2) Espai Quera: books, mountains and true Barcelona character

On Carrer de Petritxol—where Barcelona feels steeped in history—you’ll find Espai Quera, a bookshop that opened in 1916 and, over time, became a key reference point for the city’s hiking and outdoor culture. It’s one of those places with a personality of its own: authentic, unique and unmistakably Barcelona. From Hotel Regina, it’s just a 12–18 minute walk, along a route that already has the charm of the old town.

3) Llibreria Documenta: a haven for curious readers

If you love bookshops with a strong point of view and a carefully curated selection, Documenta is a must. It opened in 1975 with the intention of doing things differently: literature, art and the humanities, in several languages—always with quality at the forefront. Best of all, it’s just a 5–10 minute walk from Hotel Regina, making it perfect for a spontaneous visit at any time of day.

4) La Central: culture, the humanities and calm in the heart of the city

La Central was born in Barcelona in 1995 as a bookshop project with a strong cultural calling—one of those places that invites you to stay a little longer. It’s ideal for losing track of time among beautifully curated sections, especially if you’re drawn to the humanities, art and ideas. From Hotel Regina, it’s a 20–30 minute walk to the Raval neighbourhood—a pleasant stroll across the city, best enjoyed at a relaxed pace and with curious eyes.

And if you’d like to experience reading in an even more special way, take note: on February 26th, at the Gina’s Salon at Hotel Regina, we’ll be hosting one of our signature gatherings—where books and wine come together. We’ll be joined by author Luna Miguel, who will be in conversation about her book, and by Nika Shevela, sommelier, who will present a selection of wines thoughtfully chosen to accompany the talk. We’ll also open up a discussion around the themes of the book, sharing ideas, impressions and different perspectives in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The evening will be hosted by Andrea Carballo, in a relaxed format—perfect for enjoying Barcelona at a slower pace.
